Pick on Someone Else

On January 20, 2017, millions of Americans were distraught during the weekend that Donald J. Trump was elected to fill in the shoes as president for the next four to eight years, depending if he gets a second term.
Along with this historic event, controversy was in the air such as the inauguration sizes, the issue with “alternative facts” and the Women’s March.
Another topic that had a brief spotlight was President Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump. Posts containing offensive remarks in regards to the 10-year-old boy were circulating on social media platforms.
Saturday Night Live writer Katie Rich was also in the mix when she tweeted out an offensive post that referred to the first child.

Rich deleted her post on January 23, 2017. The writer, was then suspended from the show and her name did not appear in the closing credits. She later tweeted out an apology for her actions.
“I sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet,” Rich said. “I deeply regret my actions & offensive words. It was inexcusable & I’m so sorry.”
Others like Chelsea Clinton, former first child, defended Barron to help combat the trolls on his behalf.

This is just a gentle reminder to be responsible and think through your actions when you post something because it could cost you your job, wreck your image and/or hurt others especially when it involves an underage individual. Not only are you representing yourself but, you are also representing the organization that you work for.
In my opinion, regardless if you are for or against the president, their underage children should be off limits. Their kids have nothing to do with the decisions that are being made for the country. Barron is still a boy and he should still have the opportunity to experience a childhood while is father is still in office.
