Don't Stress with the Mess

It is that time of the semester where all of our professors agree that they should flood our week with assignments and group projects that put our GPA on the line. As a bonus, this will challenge us to choose between our social life, good grades, and sleep.

Stress and anxiety seem to have made a bed in our heads while we embark on our scholastic adventure in this chapter of our lives. In the mist of all of the chaos, we seem to forget that taking care of ourselves should be a priority in order to get everything accomplished.

If there is an occasion where you feel overwhelmed, think “Don’t Stress with the Mess.” Take a deep breath because everything will be alright.

Here are 10 tips that can help you ease your workload:

1. Take a deep breath and reflect on what triggers your stress

2. Exercise and/or play a competitive sport. Work your body rather than your mind

3. Have a strong relationship with a group of people that you can express yourself freely

4. Pick up a hobby that can help your creative juices flow

5. Have plenty of sleep to recharge

6. Plan everything out for the week and scratch off as you go

7. Manage your time wisely

8. If you feel overwhelmed, pause what you are doing and take a break. Listen to music, meditate or go outside to clear your head.

9. Drink plenty of water

10. Eat well-rounded meals that are nutritious and can help you in the long run

Taking care of yourself is an important factor to your academic success. Test these practices out at your own pace and see what works for you. Not only will you feel more at ease in the heat of the moment, but you are also improving yourself in the long run.
