Bill Nye’s Amazing Facts vs Gifford’s Grunt Attacks

America’s uncle that taught many children over the years about the wonders of science did not receive such a warm welcome from his TV hostess, Kathie Lee Gifford.

Bill Nye, the science guy, was invited to do a segment on the Today show in honor of Earth Day. The segment involved a couple of science questions that were asked to the studio audience as well as on the air.

If the chosen audience member got the answer right, they would receive a $100 gift card. If they did not, then they are gifted with a signed copy of the co-host’s book called “Where We Belong: Journeys that Show Us the Way.”

Bill would then explain the answer in more depth. As he elaborated on the answer, Gifford intrudes in with irritated sighs and annoyance that was implied in her body language when she slumped in her chair like a five-year old throwing a tantrum. This kept reoccurring throughout the segment and Bill remained classy.

At the end of the bit, the rude hostess cuts off Bill in mid-sentence with “no, we have no time, so sad.”

If there is a time to show hatred towards your guest it is after you have done your task with them and have already made your way back home. Do not express how you really feel while you are on the job let alone on the air where millions can access the footage of your actions.

The show is known for their hostesses, Kathie and Hoda, to share a couple of drinks on the air while they talk about “newsworthy” topics that their public is interested in.

Some spectators inferred that Gifford may have had a few more drinks than usual. Regardless if that was true or not, it does not excuse her conduct towards her guest. You should always act professionally despite of each other’s differences.
